ABB Azipod XO electric marine propulsion unit for cruise ships, ferries, LNG carriers and offshore vessels. Power range 4.5-22 MW per pod, 360 degree rotation. AC induction or permanent-magnet motor drives a fixed-pitch propeller directly on the motor shaft (no gearbox). Slipring assembly provides power and signal transfer across the rotational interface. Bearings and seals designed for 25-year vessel lifetime with planned 5-year withdraw-overhaul cycle.
